July 1st, Hong Kong Quilt
July 1, Hong Kong, 1997 43 3/4" x 35 1/2" This quilt was in my first book in the "Help for Problem Quilts" chapter. Some of my quilts and those of other willing students which were not successful quilts, were pictured "Before" and "After" with discussions added about what was not working and how they were improved. Above is the "After" version of this quilt. The name references the day Hong Kong was taken back by China. I was listening to NPR as they were reporting from Hong Kong that day. There was jubilation in the streets, but in on every corner rigid, armed Chinese guards controlled everything. I thought my quilt was a good depiction of that dynamic. $650 plus shipping
