"Checkerboard Transitions"

"Checkerboard Transitions"  49 3/4" x 50".  Pieced commercial cottons. Machine Quilted. This quilt was made in 2005  for my 2006 book, "Shifting Perspectives"  published by C&T Publishing.  It was the most advanced of the 4 project quilts shown in the book.  The premise with this technique is to start with multiples of the same identical block (in this case, 25) in a size larger than you ultimately want, and then trim a smaller block from each of the original blocks but in a different place each time, according to a shift formula, so as to make the image change in each placement.
